Saturday, May 22, 2010 : Kichler LED in Landscape Lighting: More Advantages Than Meet the Eye

No two yards are alike, and their lighting plans shouldn’t be either. Kichler Lighting offers the market a wide assortment of professional grade landscape lighting products that help create stunning custom lighting designs featuring Kichler’s advanced LED technology.

Design Pro LED uses 75% less energy consumption. That should be enough, but there’s more. Before the creation of Design Pro LED landscape lighting, professionals and homeowners had to turn to incandescent sources that used a range of anywhere from 20 watts to 75 watts or more per fixture to do the job right. Now, with Design Pro LED, the same affect can be designed using a range of 2 watts to 12.4 without compromising the warm white color rendering and light output strength.

The higher quality of light improves the homeowner experience as well. Design Pro LED provides more precise light effects that eliminate intrusive light spill onto neighbor’s yards and can reduce the light pollution associated with high watt alternatives. Need more reasons? “Light emitting diodes virtually eliminate the nuisance insects cause when drawn to incandescent light sources, due to frequency differences in the technology,” says Maria Burk, landscape marketing manager at Kichler.

Kichler Design Pro LED is a also a favorite with Pros because it has significant installation advantages such as increasing the amount of light fixtures per wire run so installers use less cable, less transformer, and can install fixtures faster due to a wider tolerance range for voltage drop associated with 12-volt installations, says Jack Miller, Kichler Senior Product Manager. Miller further states, “There are many advantages to LED if engineered correctly so be sure to ask suppliers the right questions.” Design Pro LED lasts 40,000 hours which also results in significant reduction in light bulb maintenance. “At 6 hours a night, that’s nearly 18 years before you need to change the light out,” says Miller.
