Rubbermaid® wire shelving systems are now the first closet systems to be GREENGUARD certified, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to providing environmentally-friendly products to its consumers. With 69 percent of consumers preferring to buy products certified to improve indoor air quality, and 66 percent of consumers believing that poor indoor air quality impacts their health, the GREENGUARD certification proves that Rubbermaid considers indoor air quality an important issue.
“Now that Rubbermaid wire shelving systems are GREENGUARD certified, consumers can feel confident they are helping to improve their indoor air quality, where they spend up to 90 percent of their time. For builders and contractors, GREENGUARD certified products can help lead to healthier living environments and contribute to points for LEED® certification and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) National Green Building Standard™,” said Betty Schmal, product marketing manager for Rubbermaid.
To achieve GREENGUARD Certification, the Rubbermaid products were screened for more than 10,000 different chemicals to confirm the products emit low levels of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including phthalates and formaldehyde. In addition, the ventilated design requires no sealants or paint during installation and improves air circulation, which prevents mold and dust. Made from 100 percent recycled steel, the wire systems are 100 percent recyclable with construction waste.
