Wednesday, July 21, 2010 : Increase Customer Satisfaction with ALP from Progress

Builders today want energy efficient packages to add value to their offering, while also ensuring a profit. One approach is to include ENERGY STAR Advanced Lighting Packages (ALP) as options for new construction.

An ENERGY STAR Advanced Lighting Package is a construction option that can be offered by homebuilders to upgrade light fixtures and ceiling fans commonly used in the home with ENERGY STAR qualified models.

  • The ALP designation can apply to lighting packages that consist of a minimum of 60% ENERGY STAR qualified hard-wired fixtures and 100% ENERGY STAR qualified ceiling fans where installed.
  • ENERGY STAR qualified recessed downlights, ceiling fan light kits and ventilation fans with lighting can be counted toward the fixture requirement.

The business benefits for builders who upgrade to lighting packages with energy efficient models are extensive and include:

  • Increased revenue:  Built-in energy-saving features can increase revenue on every home. Savings from “green” lighting also reduces monthly costs of ownership for buyers.
  • Market Differentiation:  Builders recognized for efficient construction and environmental stewardship receive valuable recognition and market advantage.
  • Design Flexibility:  Energy efficient lighting collections are available in many styles and finishes—and are suitable for every application in the home.
  • Enhanced Customer Satisfaction: America’s consumers are increasingly seeking ways to save energy and reduce their “carbon footprint.”

To take advantage of this opportunity, Progress Lighting assists interested homebuilders in creating ALPs for their businesses. As 2007 ENERGY STAR Product Manufacturing Partner of the Year, we offer a wide array of ENERGY STAR fixtures for a whole home solution.
